The Gracey Face CocktailWhen my Delvinia Interactive colleague Grace found out that we had made birthday cocktails for two other of our friends – The Pistachio Rhumba and then the Sassy Paige – she insisted that she needed a Madtini drink for her to call her very own. Having worked side-by-side with Grace for several years, I knew that I would never hear the end of it if I didn’t. Plus, she’s a very cool chick (but you didn’t hear that from me).

First step:  I asked Grace to send me a list of all the things she likes. Besides the items I expected, such as white rum, blue caracao, lime juice – she also included a Filipino favorite of hers, calamansi juice. Calamansi is a Filipino treat made of the juice of the Calamondin fruit (sometimes called a Panama Orange in the west) and honey. After a bit of research on Wikipedia, I found out what I was looking for and put the word out to Twitter on where I could find it in Toronto or Mississauga. Thankfully a few people came through with responses, including a friend who even called a store to see that it was in stock.

So after a long Saturday night of exhaustive research in the Madtini Intoxicology Labs, we present the GraceyFace.

The GraceyFace

Ingredients:
2 oz – White Bacardi Rum
1 oz – Malibu Coconut Flavored Rum
2/3 oz – Blue Caracao
1 tsp of Calamansi Juice with Honey
Juice of Half a Lime

Preparation:
Combine the Rums and Blue Caracao in a cocktail shaker with ice. Squeeze the juice of half a lime over the ice and add a teaspoon of Calamansi Juice. Shake vigorously and strain into a cocktail glass with crushed ice, a wedge of lemon and a wedge of lime.
