Happy Birthday @MissVerna Cocktail

by Merlene 1 Comment

Miss V

We really love birthdays and celebrations here at the Madtini Research Labs and when a little birdie told us that today was @MissVerna‘s special day we got busy trying to create the perfect birthday cocktail.

Vanilla vodka, creme de cacao and Kahlua all in one glass? Pure decadence. Have a wonderfully decadent day, Verna!

The MissV-Va-Voom- Vanilla Chocolate Coffee Cake

  • 2 1/2 oz Twist of Vanilla Smirnoff Vodka
  • 1 oz Creme de Cacao
  • 1/2 oz Kahlua

Preparation:

Pour Vanilla Vodka, Creme de Cacao and Kahula over ice, stir with a long spoon and pour into a martini glass with a sugared rim.

Happy Birthday Jennifer JJ

Happy Birthday Jennifer JJ

Today’s Birthday Drink Brought to You by the Letter J!

@jennifer_jj has been one of our most loyal fans at Madtini since the beginning and we thought it only fitting that she should have a surprise birthday drink when she wakes up this morning!

A sweet fruity cocktail with a hint of zing – we think this might replace the mimosa as the official weekend brunch drink around here.

Happy Birthday, Jennifer! We hope you have a great day today and a fabulous (Madtini filled!) year ahead!

1 part Southern Comfort

1 part Peach Schnapps

1 part tropical fruit juice blend

1 part 7 up

3 drops of Maraschino cherry juice

Mix together with ice, strain into cocktail glass. Garnish with slice of orange and a Maraschino cherry.

My Secret Crush Cocktail photo

My Secret Crush Cocktail

Your friends the amateur intoxicologists here at Madtini Research Laboratories have come up with a number of Madtini Original cocktails to celebrate Valentine’s Day.

This, the second of our Valentine’s Day Passion Potions, brings back memories of the first stirrings of romance we all felt when we had our first secret crush.

Remember those days? The girl down the street or the boy three lockers down… the one who didn’t even seem to know you existed but you knew everything about them. What their class schedule was, where they hung out, what their favourite soda was… hoping one day that they would notice you…

My Secret Crush Cocktail

  • 1/2 ounce peach schnapps
  • 1/2 ounce grenadine
  • fresh raspberries
  • 1 ounce raspberry vodka

In a cocktail shaker or small bowl muddle the peach schnapps, grenadine and 4 fresh raspberries until well mashed. Add raspberry vodka and crushed ice. Shake well then strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with fresh raspberries.

Your Bloody Valentine Cocktail

Your Bloody Valentine Cocktail

Your friends the amateur intoxicologists here at Madtini Research Laboratories have come up with a number of Madtini Original cocktails to celebrate Valentine’s Day.

This, the first of our Valentine’s Day Passion Potions, tastes of sweet juicy peaches, tingly sparkling champagne with just a hint of citrus. A gorgeous red slice of blood orange gives the cocktail it’s name.

We promise it’s just the thing to set your sweetheart’s heart aflutter…

Your Bloody Valentine

  • 1/2 ounce peach schnapps
  • 2 ounces sparkling wine
  • 1 wedge blood orange

In a cocktail glass place a thick wedge of blood orange then pour first the peach schnapps then the sparkling wine on top.

by Merlene 3 Comments

We started to get to know @PaigeSaid on Twitter about a year ago and soon bumped into her at bunch of social events, tweet-ups, and fundraisers around Toronto.

One of the forces of nature behind the popular @PatioFriday meetup every Friday afternoon during the summer months in Toronto, Paige’s intelligence, quick wit and quicker smile charm us all – her smile is always present and contagious.

We created a sassy cocktail for our sassy pal @PaigeSaid – a cocktail that’s pretty, looks sweet, but is just sassy enough to surprise you.

Have a fabulously sassy birthday, Paige!

The Sassy Paige Cocktail

1 ounce gin

1 ounce club soda

1/2 ounce grenadine

juice of half a fresh lime

Combine in a cocktail shaker filled with ice, shake well, strain into a cocktail glass and garnish with two cherries and a fresh mint leaf.

We’ve had a request, of sorts, from @Jennifer_JJ for a #Tweetini – and we put this together and it’s actually pretty tasty (considering we just sort of quickly whipped this up)…

1 part blue curacao
1/2 part cinnamon schnapps
2 parts white cranberry juice

Combine in a cocktail shaker filled with ice, shake, serve in cocktail glass – garnish with a maraschino cherry or two.

Hopefully sometime soon we’ll have a #Madtini #Tweetini #Tweetup!

Happy 2010 Everyone 🙂

The Finale Blues Martini – Mad Men Season 3 Finale – Week #13

by Merlene Leave a Comment

Finale Blues Martini

Finale Blues Martini

It doesn’t seem possible but here we are at the end of Mad Men Season 3. It seems just a week or two ago we started up Madtini.com in anticipation of the new season and now we’re at the end. Time does fly when you’re having fun and we really have been having fun, haven’t we?

We’ve seen Peggy Olsen smoke pot (cough) and sleep with Duck (cough, gag, gag).

We’ve seen Betty lose her father, gain a son, lose her husband (well she still has Don but now she knows he’s really Dick Whitman) and have to deal with the ever growing handful that Sally has become.

We’ve seen Joan enter into what can only be called a toxic marriage.

We’ve seen Roger enter into a marriage with a girl young enough to be his daughter and at times it’s looking like Roger is more doting father than husband in that situation.

We’ve seen Don jumping through hoops for Conrad Hilton.

We’ve seen a secretary cut off an executive’s foot while riding a John Deere in the office.

We’ve seen the assassination of John F. Kennedy.

Yes, we’ve been having fun but it’s sad to have to say good-bye to the folks at Sterling Cooper until next season. You won’t have to say good-bye to Madtini though – we’ve decided to continue serving up cocktails here every Sunday night. Maybe we’ll watch a Mad Men rerun or two – we’re bound to switch back to our other AMC favorite ‘Breaking Bad’ when it comes back around. We’ll keep the ice bucket filled and the olives ready.

The Finales Blues Martini

1 part blueberry vodka

2 parts Berry Lemonade Jones Soda

Place the blueberry vodka and the soda into a cocktail shaker filled with ice, stir, strain into cocktail glasses and enjoy.

Cheers, and happy November from Madtini World Headquarters
