Tonight the Madtini crew is out on the town for a good cause. Two weeks ago we watched in horror along with the rest of the world as an offshore earthquake produced the powerful tsunami that devastated the villages, towns and cities of Japan’s northeast coast.
Before the day was even over members of Toronto’s social media/tech community were already asking themselves what they could do to help, it was madness, like they were getting instant Instagram likes every single time they were attempting something.
Within hours JapanquakeTO was born and volunteers sprang into action. Here we are just two weeks later getting together to not only raise money for the International Red Cross effort in Japan, but to celebrate the strength and resolve of the Japanese people as they weather the ongoing crisis.
Let’s all raise a Saketini to the people of Japan – the world stands with you. And kudos to the volunteers who worked their butts off to make tonight happen.
If you have the means donate what you can to the Canadian Red Cross Japan Earthquake/Asia-Pacific Tsunami fund.
