Nor'easterThe sap is running wild in the maple woods of the North East so this week we’re making cocktails with the sweet and delicious taste of maple syrup.

This drink recipe comes from the bar at Char No 4, Brooklyn’s home of American Whiskey with 150 types on hand for your enjoyment. Their twist on the Dark & Stormy is like a south meeting north in a perfect storm in your glass.

The Citrus Jalapeno Kicker

Citrus-Jalapeno Kicker

Happy Birthday to Us… Madtini is One Year Old!

Happy Birthday to us, happy birthday to us, happy birt… well you now it goes after that. It’s August 16 and that means we’re one-whole year old today. Its been a wild year. We started Madtini as a way to accompany our Sunday night Mad Men viewings. When Season 3 ended we all looked at each other and said, ‘OK, now what?’ Then we poured a few vodka martinis, life began making sense again, and we moved forward.

We’ve made drinks for Halloween, St. Patrick’s Day, Christmas, the Vancouver Winter Games, Cinco de Mayo, Caribana and many more events. We attended great tasting events and met dozens of cool new Madtini friends.

We’re looking forward to even more fun, laughs and of course drinks during year number 2.

The Madtinis of St. Patrick’s Day

St Patrick's Day Madtinis

“Everyone is Irish on St. Patrick’s Day”. That goes double for the hard working Intoxicologists at Madtini Research Labs. They’ve been wearing green lab coats, humming Danny Boy and dancing without moving their arms. Not sure why they’ve been dancing in the lab, I’m sure its not optimal for workplace safety.

They’ve been waiting in anticipation all year to start mixing magic with Irish Whiskey, delicious Bailey’s Irish Cream and maybe even a wee bit of Creme de Menthe for color and minty flavor. Thanks to their hard work, we now can offer up 6 tasty alternatives to the usual choice of a (or several) green beer.

And as the Irish Rovers used to say as they signed off… May you be in Heaven a full half hour before the Devil knows you’re dead.

And now back to watching YouTube clips of Sean Connery singing (yes, singing) in Darby O’Gill and the Little People. Cheers!
