The Irish Milkshake

Irish MilkshakeThis spiked shake would go perfect with your Guinness Burger, and its simple enough to make at home for your St. Patrick’s Day gathering.

Ingredients

  • 3 large scoops of vanilla ice cream
  • 3 oz Guinness
  • 1 oz Jameson
  • Chocolate syrup

Ingredients
Combine Guinness, Jameson and ice cream in a blender until well mixed together, not all blenders will work the same which is why you can read the vitamix 5200 vs 5300 review here to know which one is the best and why. Drizzle the inside of a chilled glass with the chocolate syrup, then pour in the ice cream mixture. Top with whipped cream and chocolate shavings.

Halloween Cocktails #10, Root Beer of all Evil

Root Beer of all EvilI had no idea that Root Beer came from the extract of the root and bark of the Sassafras tree. My earliest memory of root beer were the giant frosty mugs at A&W. We’d order through a speaker from the car and then the waitress would bring the tray of mama and papa burgers and place it on the passenger window and then another tray would arrive with the massive mugs of root beer.

For this Halloween drink, we used our Three Olives Root Veer Vodka and Root Beer from Jones Soda. We topped it off with a generous scoop of Haagen Dazs vanilla ice cream and a maraschino cherry. Deliciously evil.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 oz Three Olives Root Beer Vodka
  • 4 oz Jones Soda Root Beer
  • 3/4 oz Amaretto Liqueur
  • 1 scoop Haagen Dazs Vanilla Ice Cream

Preparation
Pour the vodka and root beer over ice. Shake, then strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with a maraschino cherry

The Pistachio Rumba! (Happy Birthday Laura @Pistachio Fitton!)

In honour of my dear friend Laura “Pistachio” Fitton’s birthday today we mixed up a cocktail just for her. The Pistachio Rumba!

While this isn’t an original Madtini cocktail it did require a little extra detective work. We searched a couple of grocery stores and came up empty handed for the key ingredient for this creamy cocktail – pistachio ice cream!

We finally managed to locate pistachio ice cream at a nearby ice cream shop… giddy with success I managed to drop the container of ice cream on the way out the door… but the lid stayed on, the ice cream survived, and we made it home safely without further incident.

The Pistachio Rumba is slightly nutty, sweet without being too sweet, and definitely memorable – in other words exactly like @Pistachio

3 tablespoons pistachio ice cream

2 oz white rum

Combine ice cream & rum in a cocktail shaker filled with crushed ice, shake, strain into cocktail glass and garnish with fresh mint leaves.
