We’re on week 7… and we’ve decided to expand our palette of cocktail colour and bring on the blue, specifically Curaçao Blue – and introduce a little vodka to the proceedings as well. This week’s cocktail of the week is the Caribbean Blues.
If you don’t know (and I didn’t before now) Curaçao liqueurs are traditionally made from dired peels of the laraha cutrus fruit, a fruit similar to an orange – named after the Dutch island of Curaçao. To create the liqueur, the laraha peels are dried, bringing out their sweetly fragranced oils. After soaking in a still with alcohol and water for several days, the peels are removed and other spices are added. The blue colour is totally decorative (it does look purty) but the orange flavour still jumps right out at you.
Cheers and bottoms up from the lounge at Madtini World Headquarters!
